Mt Ararat in the distance

This morning started off with me saying to Rob, why don’t we just sleep in and not do the tour today, I’m tired.  He wasn’t going to go for that, because there were multiple things on this tour I wanted to see.  He got up and got ready, brought me breakfast stuff and told me to get ready.  I agreed and was ready to go at 9:00.  The same group form the day before was on the tour with the addition of Marie, a French girl.  The plan was for Merijn and Anna to sty with us to Sevan and then they would leave the group to camp there.  To give them the full experience, Gevorg rearranged the order of the day.

Our first stop was Garni the only Pagan Temple in Armenia.  It was dedicated to Mitra, God of Sun.  It is the only Hellenistic period monument in Armenia.  The complex includes a Roman bath.  It is still actively used by people who practice the pagan religion.  It was has been damaged numerous time in earthquakes and other event, but has been full restored.  It sits like so many of the places we have visited on the trip high on a hill overlooking the valleys below.  The placement alone gives is a spiritual quality.  While we were there a group of singers were performing folk music.  Rob took a video of it that will hopefully turn out good.  We looked around the place some snapping pictures and made the necessary biological stops.
