Feeling the heat in Abu Dhabi

But due to a special offer me and a friend went there anyway.
Official opening was scheduled for November 2005, so in August there was still some construction going on. Luxury hotels often have a so called "soft opening phase" where they offer special room rates, so can run the technical stuff and train the hotel staff.
Construction was on the other side of the hotel, which was like 700 meter from our room, so we weren't bothered by construction noise.
As I mentioned before, doing outdoor activities was not so much fun. The water temperature of the ocean at the hotel's private beach was warm as in the bathtub, and even hanging at the pool (which luckily had cooled water!) was kinda exhausting.
So we preferred to stay inside the hotel, going shopping to Marina Mall or Abu Dhabi Mall... well, going anywhere cold!
One day we decided to rent a car and go to Dubai, which is like 150km from Abu Dhabi. Takes 2 hours by car. We checked out some sights in Dubai, but due to the heat we couldn't really enjoy the places outside.
So we hit the shopping malls or checked out luxury hotels.
However, it was a really nice trip, and I'd like to go there again - but this time in Winter, when temperatures are lower!
