AirVenture is an annual gathering of nearly a million pilots, and other aviation enthusiasts from all over the world. The number and variety of aircraft is absolutely awesome. This was my 5th visit. As always, I went with my friends Ed and Ron and this time my friend Karl from Düsseldorf joined us as well. We had a great time!

The LONG drive out

Once again we had agreed to drive Ed's SUV to Milwaukee where we would rent an RV for our stay at Oshkosh. My friend Karl had flown from Düsseldorf to Milwaukee and was already awaiting our arrival. We were up well before the rooster and, as always, met at Ron's house. Rotatong among 3 drivers certainly eases the load but, no matter how you cut it, it's a LONG way from Northeastern PA to Wisconsin! Other than some horrible traffic tieups due to construction near O'Hare, we had no major trouble and finally got to our hotel near both the Milwaukee airport and the RV rental place by early evening. After dropping Karl's rental car off at the airport, we had an enjoyable dinner together and hit the rack.
