Crossing the border to Chile - Torres del Paine
December 23, 2008
Driving many hours, but nice scenery. The formalities crossing the border took a lot of time.
Late afternoon arrival at the Lago Tyndall Lodge in Rio Serrano, Torres del Paine.

nice, warm, great view
We only stayed one night in National Park Torres del Paine.
In Lago Tyndall Lodge, a hotel beautiful situated at the Serrano River bank).
Arriving in the afternoon we were unlucky with the weather: it was raining cats and dogs ;-)
The hotel was nicely decorated for Chrismas.
Friendly staff, only one lady spoke English very well.
First we got a rather small room (with a nice view overlooking the valley). Because of the heavily rain it was leaking in the room. So we were moved to a superior room. Very spacious with a big covered balcony.
Once it cleared up we had the most fantastic view on the Torres del Paine (the mountains). See the photos in my blog.
At night we joined the buffet in the hotel (no choice of going somewhere else), which turned out to be more than okay. I think we paid 25 US dollar a person (or just 20, don’t remember).
The furniture in the room was basic, but satisfying. Clean place. Breakfast okay.
