I am back in Thailand, it has been 13 weeks since I arrived here the first time.  The first time I arrived by plane from Honolulu to Bangkok, this time by bus from Kuala Lumpur to Sadao.  It was even my responsibility to hand the bus passenger manifest to the immigration official at the border.  I am not really sure why, most of the other passengers on the bus were Malaysian, Burmese, or Thai.  I guess the bus driver thought I looked responsible.  LOL

Amazing differences between Malaysia and Thailand, from KL to Hat Yai, the bus was a double-decker tour bus, spacious and comfortable for the 10 hour drive, which we made it in about 7 due to the good road conditions in Malaysia.  Now in Thailand, I will take a minibus, crammed full of western backpackers for another 8 hours to Surat Thani.  Its funny, the cost of things are very similar, Malaysia is slightly more expensive than Thailand, but the quality is so much better in Malaysia.  I don't understand why Thailand gets so many more tourist.  I suppose the culture in Thailand is a little more "exotic" than Malaysia, but it doesn't seem very authentic.  Thailand shows it's culture differences with a spot light and while in Malaysia it's much more subtle, but feels real.

I have to say I really enjoyed my two months in Malaysia, but I am looking forward to the Full Moon Party in a few days.
