A total memory mess

In Zacatecas the streets are stairs!

This trip was very exciting, but I don't remember very well the order in which things happened. The first thing to say about it is that we were actually planning to go to Mexico City and neighboring cities like Puebla and Tula. Unfortunately, on the way there, we stopped at a gas station and everybody went to the restroom, but nobody loaded gas, lol. We incredibly started driving again, and the car stopped in the middle of nowhere. We had no idea what was going on, until somebody realized that we actually didn't load gas at the gas station. LOL!!!

We weren't sure what to do, but me and a buddy had to walk about 2 miles in the middle of the night to get to the next town. The other guy (and smarter) remained with the girl, and God knows what happened but they started a sentimental relationship right there hehe.

The thing is that we came back with the gas, and had a bit of trouble to get the truck to start. It did start but it wasn't working well (stopping every minute), so we decided to stop in Zacatecas for the night.

We had extreme problems to find accomodation, as there was a music and art festival held in the city at the moment, and everything was packed. We found a small hotel that was very dirty, but all we wanted was to sleep. Next day we were again looking for hotels, and we found this small hostel downtown, of which I made a review. It was wonderful! They were actually full, but the owner was from Chihuahua, so he gave us a chance to stay in the lobby, lol.

It was Sunday, so every mechanical workshop was closed. We had to wait until Sunday to see what had happened to the truck, so we decided to tour Zacatecas a bit.

In the ruins of an old franciscan convent
I was very impressed about the city. I had no idea it was so beautiful. One of the first hotspots we visited was the Hill of the Bufa, an important scenario during the mexican revolution. There is a church on the top, and a very interesting mexican revolution museum right there.

On Monday we were told that the car needed a better mechanical job, so we would be unable to resume our trip down to Mexico City. I was a bit frustrated at first, but then we thought it was best to stay in Zacatecas for the whole week and enjoy the city. It was quite lively because of the music fest, and we could enjoy some live music in the main square.

Driving in the streets of Zacatecas can be a nightmare, especially with a pick up truck or SUV. At a certain point we decided to take tours or just walk.

We also visited one of the mines, a franciscan monastery that was destroyed by the violence of the mexican war of reformation (it was turned into a cantina, a prostitution house, a carriage house and finally abandoned), two of the museums and the corona beer factory. That Corona beer factory was one of the highlights of the trip, we could watch the production process, and in the end have quite a few coronas, modelos, victorias and all the other brands of the Corona company. It is not common for visitors to be offered as many beers, but our tour guide knew people from the company, so we were treated specially, lol.

There was emotion, anger, joy, stress and lots of fun in that trip. It's one of the most emotionally charged trips I have ever had. But it will remain in my memories as long as I live.

Hey thanks Allan! Yes, I agree! If it wasn't for the unexpected, trips and life itself would be plain and boring!

And thanks for the comment, yeah if I can say something about myself is that, I think that something good can come out of anything. Cheers!
