Okay, so I went to Mainau with the PHD student I work for and his parents for his birtday, and it was amazing. I have never seen something so beautiful. I am not really a flower kind of gal but a whole island full of wonderful plants and flowers...who couldn't like that? I even watched a wedding and found myself going 'awwwwwww that is sooooo romantic' and that is not typical Nicole haha.
I really enjoyed playing on the playground too. It is really physics based, so I, being a physics student, found it very intrequing. There were also giant ducks and a peacock made of all flowers (i think i have pics of them up). It was fantastic!!! The view of the bodensee couldn't have been better either, it was so wonderful, and reminded me a lot of home.
The water was the most amazing teal color I think I have ever seen. There was also a butterfly house that you can walk through, it was great. There were butterflies EVERYWHERE!!! I also got to feel like a bit of a star because I mentioned that I own a turtle like the one in their cage/pond and a bunch of germans were thrilled and started to ask me a ton of questions about the animals by my place. They were excited to hear about the bears, snakes, turtles, and bugs near my house. I felt really good to get to tell people about them, and I had to talk in all german too. Which made me happy because they all understood me :) I'M GETTING BETTER YAY!!! Actually all day I only spoke German, since Michaels parents do not know much English. It was a GOOOOOODDD DAY!!!!!
If you get the chance...GO TO MAINAU!!!!
