We chose to drive another way and therefore headed towards Lille by heading from Charleroi. 30km west of Lille we ran into the first long queue and we decided to take some small roads before coming to the pay motor way in France. Here the traffic was nothing to talk about and the last 130 km to La Touquet-Paris-Plage was an easy drive with good French radio in my ears.
We drove directly towards the golf club, where we had a tee off at 15.39! We had a small lunch in their club house before going for the course. Coming from the Belgian golf club I am used to another type of ambiance. The tone here is much more serious and the people here are not even relaxing after the game. The green fee was rather steep; 92 euro! The course was great but killing; if you didn’t shoot straight then your ball was almost for certain lost.
We had a great time.
After the golf we arrived at the club house just in time to have one cold beer; that it was only one, was due to fact that the club house was closing at 8pm; that would never had happen in Belgium!! There 19th hole is as important as the 18 before and can sometimes take just as long. We left the course and headed for our hotel in Cucq. We had passed it earlier that day, but we had not checked in yet.
After a quick shower and a shave we drove in to Touquet-Paris-Plage in order to find the restaurant that Inge had booked for us this evening. We had a great meal and 3½ hour later we decided to head back to the hotel to get some sleep and be fresh for the following day where we had booked golf at another course.
