We get up early this morning as we have a flight to get to Puerto Maldonado.
We are supposed to leave early, however our tour leader Andres is no where to be found. And he has our plane tickets. So we go to his room and wake him up, turns out he was drinking out last night and just got in.
Anyhow, we make our journey to the airport and fly off to Puerto Maldonado to Amazon Jungle.
We are met by a guide there and get on a van and drop our bags off the main office in town.
We visit the market to get some snacks prior to our journey to the rain forest.
We drive for a few hours on the road to the river then board a boat and head off down the river to our Eco lodge.
About 3 hours, we have lunch on board the boat and just take in the scenary. Lots to see on the river, very neat.
We arrive at the Madre De Dios at the Explorers Inn. Our Eco Lodge we stay in has no electricity but its nice. Its a nice campsite, does have flush toilets and running showers. Mosquito nets over the bed and just very relaxing.
The area is very humid and warm and its quite sticky.
The nearby area we can hear monkeys in the distance, almost sound like lions growling. Lots of large butterflies nearby and some mosquitos.
In the evening we are met by our Guide named Marco who takes on a night time trek of the jungle. We see many spiders, cockroaches and frogs in the jungle, the rain forest is full of many neat sounds.
We return back to the lodge for some dinner and then head off to bed. As we have early start in the morning.
