At the end of the world...
Friday morning and off we went on a 2 hour drive through no man's land , past industrial Aalborg and into pretty little Saeby, our main destination.
We parked right in front of Fantasmus Gallery and gave the owner a call. He arrived shortly afterwards and when we had unloaded my sculptures and gotten a tour of the gallery (which is pretty amazing), he invited us to his house (which is even more amazing) near the sea for a cup of tea and a little chat.
Since we had come this far north, we decided to go that extra mile, well... 58km to be exact, to Skagen, which turned out to be a shoppers paradise. So we bought some groceries.
Again, however, we were disappointed, as there wasn't much to see in Skagen, so we continued to Grenen, the northernmost point in Jutland.
Here we parked the car and walked through the dunes to the beach, to the point where basically the North Sea and the Baltic Sea crash together in foamy waves. It felt amazing to be here, after driving for about 1.200km and knowing that we couldn't drive any further north. At least not here. We had come to the end of Denmark. After this, we would just be heading back towards home. But first we had to walk back to the parking lot and with a strong wind making our life pretty miserable, we chickened out and took the tractor-pulled wagon for 10DKK each.
On the 226km drive back to Arhus, we stopped at a roadside restaurant and probably had the best schnitzel and fries in our lives.
Who said Danish food sucked?
