Here we go! capital city!
May 31, 2009
From Shenzhen airport (we took the bus with this crazy ticket seller on board, who is actually the chief on the bus - not the driver. The girl was not only selling tickets but also screaming out loud the next stop names, telling the driver to stop or to close the door and so on, she was like a bee doing carefully her job) we took the Air China to Beijing. But they changed the schedule and we were 1 hour to early, then the plane was delayed another hour. But finally we landed safely in the capital airport. With the airport express train ABC - which is the fastest way to get to town - we went to Dongzhimen metro station and arrived at the hostel. It's not the best one but not the worst one as well. The main problem is, there is this group of chinese ppl staying here, who are so laud in the morning - 6.
00.
Here in our room we met the canadin guy who's traveling for 3 months now and want to travel though the whole year.
In the evening we went to the Olimpic Park and visited the nest stadium and this cool swimming center (huge bleu bubbels).
The first day wasn't long for us due to all the plane flying and metro riding.
What we noticed, people in Beijing spit everywhere, even on busses and inside buildings (of course not all, just few of them, but this seemed weird to us) and the other thing, there is litterary no information about anything. In merto u never get the printed map so that u could refer to when moving in the city. At the airport no city maps, ppl at the so called information dont speak any foreign language at bus terminals no information as well. :((( And what is even worse, nobody even tries to pay attention and listen what you are asking about. Weird.

Buying train tickets in Beijing
If u want to travel by train in China, good luck! Because u will need it more than anything. Sometimes u get it easy, sometimes u never get to the train.
If u r in Beijing and u r about to buy a ticket or get any info, DONT ENTER THE STATION BUILDING! inside there are nothing u need. But also DONT STAY in one of the 45678 queues outside station. Stand in front of the station looking at it. On ur right side, oposide the Metro entrance - u will see separate door to the building (NOT THE maIn DOOR of the station) dont read any information in english at the side of the right entrance - they are useless. Enter the station there (again: on the right side - inside u will find many counters, one of them on ur right is the counter for foreigners, they speak english and this is ur only chance to get info or tickets. If u r traveling with the highspeed train towards Tianjing, dont even bother to the main station. Go straight to the south station (how - u have to find ur own way, no metro line going there, and buses - nobody knows where they are going. Maybe taxi?)
So good luck. sometimes good ppl will help u. But dont count too much on it in Beijing. ;)
