Why, Peachland, of course.
Some of the best fruit you'll ever eat, will come from the Okanagan. The summer is best for fruit picking and you can visit on of many orchards for your pick of whatever is in season. Now, we didn't know whether Peachland had the best peaches, but could you really go wrong? So a week later, we had recruited another friend and were on the road by 6:30am on our quest for peaches.
It's a pretty easy ride up, about 4 hours, along the Coquihalla and towards Kelowna. You'll see a lot of signs for fruit picking and it's all very tempting, but we were determined to make it to Peachland. Finally we were there. Peachland, itself, is located right alongside the Okanagan lake. Their lakeside front makes it look like a picturesque retirement community, and it was equally dead quiet (no pun intended...) when we got there. It was just about the end of peach season, so there wasn't much happening, though we were able to find a sign that said peaches, with a big black arrow on it, leading down a road behind a gas station. That's all we needed. We picked up 2 boxes of fresh peaches, and, though there was no fruit picking, took a picture of one of us picking one peach from a tree in the orchard.
It was mid-day and we weren't in any rush to get back to Vancouver. Peachland is a short drive from Kelowna, so we headed into the town to find some more things to do.
