A nice stop in the German countryside

I had the fortune of having to be in Munich for a couple of times on business and on private. I had been there some years ago but had never before had time to visit the city centre. These last times I have had the possibility to explore some of the sights and walk some of the streets.

A nice stop in the German countryside

I have always been very spontaneous and when I woke up this morning I didn't know where I would spend the night and the coming weekend. I had an idea that I either would drive towards Munich or Andorra; two places that I earlier had enjoyed.

During the day I decided to go for Munich, so when I left work at 6pm I drove towards Liege and headed south from the road toward Luxembourg because I wanted to drive another way than usual. After 3hours and 45 minutes I ended up close to Karlsruhe. I let my GPS find a hotel and I ended up in Reichenbach Were I checked in for the night.

The restaurant was still open but as in all small villages everything closes just after dark (what do these people do in the winter time?) As I entered everybody had left and I was alone with two sweet and young waitresses and my tasting of two new beers. That it became two was due to fact that one of the waitresses forgot what I ordered and she brought the wrong beer. But with a smile on her face she said that I just could have to other one after the first. I laughed and followed her advice.

I entered the building site which looked like a building site quite late German country time: I know by experience that it is not a good idea to search for a hotel later than 10pm because then everything is closed.
I was there 10 minutes before the magic deadline and luckily the GPS had chosen a place that had a room for me. I quickly left my bag in room 16 and visited their restaurant. It was in traditional almost Bavarian design with high ceiling and wood everywhere. The decoration contained of agricultural working tools plastered on every free inch. But when this said it was actually quite cozy.

The hotel had looked like a building site from outside but inside all was normal. In the restaurant I was alone after approximately 15 minutes with two young waitresses preparing the attack on the breakfast of the following day at 8am. The girls were very sweet and English speaking which I choose to ignore in order to practice my German. This prolonged our conversations with many minutes.

Looking to the price the room was okay; it had a good size, the TV was small but working and the bathroom was super for the price I paid including the breakfast.

In general the prices were okay; In the bar you could have local Weizen Hoepfner cost 3 euro and a Hoepfner pils was 2,90 Euro
