Singapore 2008 -- My second home for over 12 years now is more than just an urban jungle (in)famous for its rigid ways and antiseptic confines. Away from the concrete jungle, outside the business district and the malls, even in the quiet hearth of a home, lie different new worlds that make this small island nation entirely new and altogether interesting.

Weekend Warriors

Beachfront bar at Café del Mar Singapore

Sentosa Island, Singapore, May 2008 -- Future roommie Benjamin and frequent visitor Lorenzo, il mio amico italiano, are who you would call the persistent weekend warriors -- the first ones on the beach on the first few minutes of the beginning of the weekend, and the last to leave long after the Sunday sun has set on Siloso Beach in Sentosa, mostly at all-time favorite Bikini Bar. (We do go to Café del Mar, but at some point the music gets too much to bear. And we never miss the all-American home-made beef burgers at Coastes Bar!)

Et moi? Sure, I'm a veteran in the beach bumming department, and though I may not who you would call the one and only beach bum extraordinaire, I just might come pretty close. Like they always say, birds of the same feather do flock together!
