Day one of my American adventure

I arrived at my hostel, the green tortoise in the heart of the North Beach area to find it was surrounded by strip bars!  I recognised a lot of the places from the film Dirty Harry so thought it was kinda cool.  After a quick shower i headed straight for Embarcadero and got my first view of the bay bridge.  It may not be as famous as the golden gate but it stay made me go WOW.  It was a beautiful day and made for a great backdrop for all the bars in the area.

Next stop was Pier 39 and then fishermans warf where i got distant glimpse of Alcatraz to put me in the mood for mu upcoming tour.  Fishermans warf is the tourist trap that everyone says but was still fun for 30 minutes and it gave me the chance to grab a well needed and expensive drink.

Feeling refreshed I made the long walk back up to Washington Square to see St Peter & Paul church.  Again this location is featured in the movie Dirty Harry and it felt so amazing to see it first hand.  The church itself is magnificent and represents the sort of architecture i did not expect to find in states.
