One the way from Paris to Amsterdam we decided to spend our extra day in Belgium fr some chocolate and beer. It turned out to be a very nice choice!

We arrived in Brussels last night just before dark and had to walk about 20 minutes to our hotel from the station.  I am not sure what kind of tradition or district we were in but there were streets upon streets of bars and restaurants full of only men. Drinking on the sidewalks, patios and in the windows they all stared at us like we were from outer space.  It was super strange and I am not sure what custom we ruined but we were very glad to get out of there.

After that it was all fine.

Everything clean and very pretty. The Hotel Moon where we had a room was in the middle of the historic square of Brussels and was very pretty with lights and pubs and people celebrating. The funny part was out room, which can only be described as sexy. Zebra striped blanket, flowers and red lamps and best of all...ENGLISH TV!!! For Kaylyn that is the first time since January she has been able to watch American TV not dubbed.

Next morning we explored Brussels. The whole town smelled like warm waffles and fruit, which was amazing. There were huge fancy buildings and shops of every kind.  We even found a massive cathedral with a service going on inside that we stopped to listen to for a bit. I think it was Catholic, but the singing and stained glass windows were very pretty.  After a nap in the sunny park and a visit to the Belgium and Godiva Chocolate stores we strolled to the station and caught the 4:20 train to Amsterdam. One leaves every hour, must be a popular destination. It was a lovely and lazy Sunday, and Brussels is pretty, clean and full of Chocolate, waffles and beer. Really what more could you want? Hope all of you are having a good weekend as well!
