Schools-out
With a little help from the trade association, I was able to go to Madrid to learn Spanish.
It was a long held wish, but it had never taken any action. Suddenly I was able to book two weeks in a language school in Madrid and I took the opportunity. I visited Madrid from Febr-22 to Mar-6 2004
I visited the Enforex language school and stayed in a fairly new appartment.
It were two great weeks, had a nice room, I met some very nice and friendly people, had a vacation and learned a bit of Spanish too.
The house I would be staying is in the Calle duque de Liria, near the Plaza de España.
When I arrived it was dark and it was raining. My map was crumbling and I was happy to be helped by two girls who spoke English.
It was a real Spanish house with a 'parte interior' (the inside of the house looking down on the courtyard) and a 'parte exterior' (looking on the street). It has an elevator, but you climb the stairs faster:)
Every morning we would go to school. I took a lot of lessons, so I had to stay until three. After school we would go shopping, to the movies or to a bar.
In the weekends the school would organise trips, but I was there in a silent period, so I went to Toledo on our own.
Within one week after I got home again, it was 11-3, when the trains were blew-up at Atocha station. This memory still hangs as a shadow over my fond memories of Madrid.
