Arts and crafts morning

The day started quite relaxed again with the kids playing with our current neighbour’s kids for a while, and then a craft hour which was organised by the campsite. Normally they have one for three different age groups and I was going to take Jordan to the first and Reagan to the second one, but then it turned out the parents were expected to stay around and I could hardly leave Reagan to wander around on her own for an hour! So we reached a compromise: the girls went together and I stayed with them. The whole thing started with a short play in which tow of the main figures of the whole fairytale theme this park is all about had a discussion about who was the more popular one. Then the kids could choose a picture of the one they liked best to colour in and decorate, and then at the end they it was decision time with another short play.

In the afternoon they could go and be entertained again, this time with face painting, hula hoops, a trampoline and other things to play with.

The show
While they did that I sat outside and read my book. Officially the parents were supposed to be on hand so I thought that would be close enough. When that was done it was back to the pool where I sat and read some more. Even if I had wanted to go for a swim I couldn’t have as the pools aren’t deep enough! All the pools are very shallow to make them suitable for the kids which is great, but there’s not even one which you can have a proper swim in.

After swimming we went and ordered pancakes for the kids. (Dinner in the restaurant would have taken forever, it was so busy!) They have pancakes shaped like a bear and a butterfly, which again are characters from the fairy tale. The pancakes were very nice, it was just a shame there was such a long wait to order them! Orders for the snackbar (fries and stuff) and the pancakes had to be made at the same counter, and there was about half an hour’s wait… (admittedly it was a busy time of day.

The show
) When we finally did get the pancakes we took them back to the cabin and the girls at them there. We then waited for the Bumpie (the bear character) car to pick them up to take them to the show. When it arrived it had Bumpie but also the Frog Prince on it, and they went around shaking hands for a while, and had dessert at one of the caravans near us. The girls loved it! They then went off for a while to watch the show and I decided to go and get something to eat then. The wait was only a couple of minutes this time, and I had simple fries and a snack. While I was eating Stefan called to say he would like to stop by again (he only lives a few kilometers down the road). So after the show it was showers for the girls and then they played with Stefan for a while until the neighbour’s kids showed up and they went to play in the sand together. So much for a shower! Stefan and I chatted and after a while I took the girls to bed while he went online (free internet on this campsite!) as his computer at home was being repaired.
