Excellent hotel, have dinner elsewhere
This was without a doubt the best hotel of our trip. Not only did the restaurant have a relatively extensive breakfast buffet with pancakes, fruit and a stand where they prepare your egg just the way you like it, it is also beautifully designed. The rooms are good, relatively spacious and the bathroom has a shower and bathtub. It's nicely located along the Mekong river, although there's nothing much to do in Muang Khong. If you're looking for some action you will be better of on the Don Det and Don Khon islands, although accommodation is definitely better on Don Khong. A relaxing 1,5 hour boat trip takes you to these islands anyway. We didn't find the restaurant very impressive for dinner, which might have something to do with the fact that several large groups needed to be served at the same time. We'd recommend the cheap and tasty Phoukong restaurant further north on the eastbank instead. The hotel offers Internet but it is slow and expensive (1000 kip per minute = $7 per hour), always a bad combination.
