Fields that has been plowed, ready for planting. On our way to community nursing (Primary Health care 1)
Going to our community field duty which is Primary Health Care 1, gives me lots of opportunities to take pictures and be able to appreciate the beautiful places and people we encounter. Our area of assignment is in the municipality of Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya. I haven't been to these places. I lived in the neighboring town of Kiangan during my highschool days. I have been passing the roads of Nueva Vizcaya when I was in college. Our bus rides pass this town many times going to Baguio where I went to school. I haven't really had a chance to see or explore anywhere this area. Now ten years later, I came back and decided to go back to school in Aldersgate College here in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya.
I am able to appreciate and see all these places for the first time and may be going back to these places several times since that's the area of our study. It really does give a person better perspective when you go to places and meet people and experience their culture. Even in the Philippines, there's so many subcultures within a group or community that sometimes people misinterpret or misunderstand other people who may have a different way of life or living or practices. It is getting to meet these people, experience their culture, sit, talk and eat with them that we can be able to understand them better. It is a shame that even in our very own community there's racism, rooted from lack understanding of why other people act the way do. Ignorance could lead some people to be mean and judge other people. Most of the time we judge people by the way they dress, the way they carry themselves. And I have noticed that here in the Philippines, people look at your appearance and treat you by how you might be dressed up. The poor people may not be treated well, because they look poor. It's terrible. Going to the community one will have a lot of chances to meet and see and experience the way poor people live.
