The journey from Madina to Makkah

We sadly said our goodbyes to beautiful Madina but were looking forward to the next phase of our journey - going to see the Kaabah in Makkah! The seven of us piled into the van that would take us on that 7 hour journey, with stops along the way to the mosque for us to confirm our intentions to do our Umrah and to have lunch and use the toilets at a restaurant . Sadly, the toilet was dirty and the restaurant served non-descript food but on the other hand we were thankful that we could use the facilities. I hope though that the Saudi government will consider putting up at least 5 good and clean R&R areas along the way - nothing fancy but at least clean.
One thing great about travelling with siblings is that everyone has her own personalities, it was just so much fun and we saw humour in everything..even in the dirty toilets!
Looking out at the scenery- the dry vegetation and endless sand dunes and sun, once again I contemplated on the Prophet's journey and how it must have been so difficult for him. Who were we to complain about the heat or how long the journey was, in our air conditioned van?
