Atlanta -> Biloxi -> New Orleans
All Looks No Taste
If this place were graded on looks alone, it would get an A+. Unfortunately, taste is also half the battle. The macaroons from Sucre were featured in O Magazine, so I thought this place had to be good despite the professional review I read that stated to steer clear. Since I love baking and knew this place would be beautiful, I decided to go anyway. When I walked in, I said, “now this is a place I’d like to work.” Everything was pastel and visually pleasing, just the way I think bakeries should look. I had a tough time deciding what to order since everything looked great.

We decided to try the passion fruit gelato and take a pastry to go. The gelato was good, with a true essence of passion fruit as opposed to a corn syrup flavor that you find in so many passion fruit juices. In addition to good gelato, the customer service was wonderful. A very pleasant gentleman was attentive to us without coming on too strong. He happily let us sample an array of their creations that come in wild flavors like coconut basil sorbet, as well as more traditional varieties.

Later that night, I finally decided to tackle the pastry I had picked out. Oh, what a disappointment! It was filled with green goo that tasted like pumpkin pie. I couldn’t even eat it.
