I ended up purchasing some M&M's on the plane which I am adamently again because it is so overpriced. When we arrived in La Guardia, we were placed in a holding pattern because of a traffic jam. Honestly, every time I have been to La Guardia I have been placed in a holding pattern. It might be one of the worst airports I have visited. I caught the Super Shuttle to my hotel, the Crowne Plaza in Manhattan and after checking in headed straight to dinner at Sbarro's.
After dinner I jumped on the metro (1) and headed to South Ferry. I caught the next Statten Island ferry right at sunset, just in time to catch Manhatten in daylight and dark. The ferry takes you past Lady Liberty herself and offers spectacular views of Manhatten and the Brooklyn Bridge. Manhattan is something to behold after dark when everything is fully lit.
If you decide to catch the ferry, keep in mind it can be busy but it holds a lot of people. Try to board first so you can grab a great seat on the upper deck, outside. These will offer your best views. When you arrive at Statten Island, try to the first to unboard so you can immediately catch the ferry headed back (unless you want to hang around Stattan Island). You will have to run to catch it as it leaves at almost the exact same time as the other arrives. Oh yea, and the ferry is free!
I jumped back on the metro (1) and headed back to Times Square and my hotel. I had to get some sleep since I am actually here for business.
