Day 14 - Blue Cruise Stops in Simena
Day three of the Blue Cruise and still the weather wasn’t living up to our expectations. It was a little less overcast and a little less windy than the previous morning but everyone was still well rugged up for their Turkish breakfast at 8:30am.
Since we’d covered a considerable distance yesterday, today was supposed to be at a slightly more relaxed pace. We motored for a bit in the morning and everyone distracted themselves with books and backgammon. Just prior to lunch we pulled up an Simena, a small village inaccessible by car and we had an hour to look around. The town was overlooked by a ruined castle, from where we were able to get a great view of the town itself and surrounding bays.
The skipper then took us to a neighbouring village, where he went ashore and picked up two new passengers.
Greg and Nick were a couple of Aussie guys trying to get to Oludeniz to meet some mates and had bought a blue cruise to take them there. We’re not sure why they were taken to a boat that was taking them back in the direction that they came but they didn’t seem to care as they’d meet up with fellow travellers and our boat had loads of beers. They seemed quite content to be aboard and quickly got to know everyone.
