Today we were moving on, from Selcuk to Fethiye. I’d booked the coach trip the previous night, so we knew we had to be down at the Otogar at 10am. Setting an early’ish alarm, we went for a short run, enjoyed another good breakfast on the roof terrace and then waved goodbye to the friends we made at the ANZ guesthouse. The coach ride consisted of a 1 hour transfer to Aydin on a Dolmus and from there in a large coach to Fethiye, stopping at a number of coastal towns on the way. It was a bit of waste of a beautiful day, again the sun was shining but the weather not too hot. It gave us both a chance to rest our legs though and to catch up on a bit of reading.
When we arrived at Fethiye Otogar we were transferred to a dolmus that took us straight to our place for the night, Artemis Hotel, gratis!! We met our host Ned and he showed us our room.
We hadn’t eaten any lunch, so we walked into town, along the harbour and found somewhere to grab a bite to eat. Michelle had grilled calamari and I bought a kofte. Both were fantastic. Probably quite expensive by Turkish standards but again the total bill for the meal came in at around 30 TLR, just over £10.It was quite early when we returned to our room, so we quizzed our host Ned on a couple of matters. Firstly, what to do in Fethiye and secondly, how does one play backgammon. With some instructions downloaded from the internet and then a little instruction from Ned, we managed a couple of games of backgammon before retiring for the night. Just in case the readers were interested in the result: Jamie 2 Michelle 0. (Ned gave me a hiding in the game I played against him though). We’ll have to buy ourselves a board for our travels I think. Everyone plays it here and it is quite an addictive pastime.
