To walk or not to walk ..?

After walking through Muir Woods for a few hours we managed to finally venture on our way out to walk over the Golden Gate Bridge.  Stopping every 5 feet at Muir Woods to take a picture was something inevitable but worth it.  I know a tree is a tree but I loved them all so I took lots of pictures.  Anyhow, even though I have been to San Francisco many times I had never walked over the Golden Gate Bridge.  I was told that it's just one of those things that you have to be able to say that you did.  Oh joy!  It was really a great time but my feet were already getting sore and each way is a mile.  We had to park on one side of the bridge and cross underneath, which I never knew.  Sort of crazy to think I was under this mammoth, famous bridge.
About to walk over the Golden Gate Bridge
As we began our walk I knew it would take a while and the anticipation was high.  It was so nice to see a town across the bay in which I admire so much.  You would be amazed that all the stories of people jumping over the edge could be so possible since the railing was really easy to get over should you be in mental turmoil.  They do have crisis phones to call should you need assistance and decide not to take the plunge in the frigid water.  Anyhow, I remember thinking as we were talking how noisy and windy it was.  I have been parasailing and it was peaceful (even though I was a lot higher up and cars weren't present) but the wind was at least 20mph and very chilly.  It was an interesting people watching site, that is for sure.  You can look out over the water and see Alcatraz which I am completely thankful I had visited last time!  The bright sunshine of the day was a real treat since there is often a lot of fog covering the bridge.  All in all a nice day to stretch my legs in anticipation for what I thought would be a 5K the next day..

I will have to make the time to walk over the bridge next time I visit. I have walked over the Sydney Harbour Bridge. :)
