hitchhiking belize, Punta Gorda to Belmopan over the Hummingbird Highway, starting with the icecreammakers
the beautiful tangled web of hitchhiking and belize;
belize hitchhike #1 we didnt see again, though,
#2, from belmopan busstation to the right highwayturn a lady picked us up; we saw her again all the way on the other side of the pine ridge, being the neighbour of the people we camped at (middle of nowhere in a manonite village kilometers through orange tree lands, kilometers from the main road (not even buses going to that main road!)
#3, a couple took us a bit further up the road towards belize city (from there we eventually took a bus to belize city and thanks to a big mama taxi driver we made it just in time for the last boat so we got to caye caulker by the end of the day). we see them again the day we come back to the mainland and go straight back to the hummingbird highway to stay at this branch lodge jungle resort (sort in particular order), they're standing right at the bar.
strange tangled web of people giving us a ride we keep meeting again, somehow feels more weird then just meeting a backpacker again on the road since you all go for the cheapest hostel in the same towns anyway..

#4, a week later we're at this lodge branch jungle resort thing and visit the blue hole national park against all advise (armed robberies blabla), we get a ride back from a couple, that we meet again in guatemala
#5, the day we leave the jungle branch lodge resort we get a ride from one of the workers to belmopan, trying to get to san ignacio (from where we eventually hitchhike to the manonite village) eugene offered us a sleepingplace in his house and took us out to dinner and brought us to the busstation the next day!
#6, trying to get to the rio frio caves we stand on the turn  on highway between san ignacio and belmopan, as theres no buses and not much traffic we take the ride one hour later to barton creek, to stay at barton creek outpost (free camping, private swimminghole, 200m from the barton creek cave) but turned out to be so much more than that, such good people, fantastic place, we threw overboard our rio frio plans and stayed the week, teaching the kids (the great people giving us food at their restaurant in exchange), ending up getting a free tour in the barton creek cave after giving a fireshow in the village) , anyway yes thats where we #2, living 3 houses further hehe
