The Unforgettable Forgettable Valentine's Weekend

When I went to book this trip we decided to go to France, in particular I wanted to go to Paris or Annecy. Surprisingly, France was incredibly expensive for this weekend. Who know that to fly to Paris for Valentines you would be expected to pay upwards of €500!
We decided that since neither of us had ever been to Madrid, it would be a great place to try out. The fact that Sarah is fluent in Spanish kind of helped too.
The weather in Madrid was fantastic. Beautiful blue skies with a blazing sun and not a cloud to be seen. The good weather stuck for the entire weekend. We honestly could not have asked for better weather.
I almost wish we had checked out a guidebook or two or new what to expect or what there was to see. We essentially strolled around the whole city over the course of the weekend. We didn't do too much, but thats not why we came. We did of course go see the famous Guernica by Picasso and like most people I decided that I could do better. My 4 year old niece could!
There are some very beautiful streets around Mardid enhanced by the very interesting statues about the place. Sarah told me a very interesting story about the "Bear trying to eat honey from a tree" statue. I forget this now, but I now know that it was not an hommage to Winnie the Pooh....I haven't been the same since...
