I have had planned the trip to Quezon Province for Pahiyas Festival sometime ago, but it seems like the business gods aren't favorable of me having an early weekend.
It's a rainy Friday morning. Manila. 6AM: I have to attend a video-conference call. Colleagues on the other side of the globe are expecting a demo of the prototype that I had just completed. Few days before this, I find myself downing more and more coffee and spending longer times in front of the computer. Am all-prepared.
8AM:Meeting adjourned. Prototype accepted with minor enhancements. Demo, successful.
While doing the meeting, my mind has been actively wandering.. thoughts of the festival, with lots of anticipation - the colors, the fun, pancit habhab and the hats; and still am in the four corners of my office.
So then, I wrapped up and called it a day at work. That was before everyone else arrived in the office. Mang Miguel was kind enough to drive me to a bus terminal for Quezon. And so I did. Hopped on and enjoyed the ride.
The sun's past half the summer sky when we passed the welcome sign to the province of Quezon. My excitement for the festival has grown fainter - anxious of what's left for me to enjoy and capture into mementos.
I had taken a nap, and woke up few moments before my stop. Yes, I had to take another ride for Lucban. I took off on the Diversion to Lucena. Good thing, the Jeepney terminal to Lucban is just around the corner. The ride takes another 20 minutes. So off I go. Joined the bunch of tourists and locals, not minding the full-packed ride, with much anticipation of going to the festival.
