It was a very long weekend for us. Nigeria is practically a half Muslim and half Christian country. We celebrate the holidays of both religion, and so yes, in terms of enjoying holidays, indeed, we have the best of both worlds.
And so, plans for the weekend were concocted and successfully carried out.
We always had this basketball season, and in every season, there would always be champions, and our basketball team won the bronze medal. Let not having bronze dampened our spirit, we celebrated our bronze medal with a huge party!
It was such a fun party, and if drunken meter is the benchmark for a successful party, well…very successful then J Please do not get me wrong, people just had fun that night. No work the next day, so drink the night away was the motto.
A friend who was out of the country came back and had tons of fun stuff to give to us. All the girls had shirts imprinted with definite description. For me, aside from my shirt, I was given a voodoo doll! Hahahahah! Again, all for fun.
And so, it was a night of pure fun with friends, and when you say, party of Filipinos, the videoke or karaoke machine would always be present.
As I looked at the people I am with, I felt happy indeed. It is up to every individual to make the best of his or her time. Much as I acknowledge that no matter how humble it may be, there is no place like home, I also subscribe to the notion that you have to own where you are and make it home. It is only when you see your place in the greater scheme of things that you will get a glimpse of your own heaven, your niche and your belongingness.
