St. Elm
April 7, 2004
The last day with our rented car. My wife was pregnant (4th month) so we had decided earlier not to do any really strenuous hikes. For this day we had planned a short one.
We drove to the little village St. Elm which is located in the Southwest of Mallorca. "Land's end", if you want. It is a quiet place (...especially early in the morning). We strolled through the streets and watched some cats that were sunbathing. From the little harbour we caught sight of today's destination: Sa Dragonera ("dragon island"). It is an uninhabited small rocky island 800 metres offshore. In the past this was a hiding place for corsaits. Today it is a preserve area. A small boat serves as a shuttle between Sa Dragonera and St. Elm.
