Palma de Mallorca (Train Station)

Palma de Mallorca Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

Mallorca is best known for being a 'party island'. Fewer people know that it is also a very beautiful place! My wife and I visited Mallorca back in 2004. It was a short visit serving as an 'appetizer' for us.

Palma de Mallorca (Train Station)

Station, Palma
With our rented car gone we had to look for alternative transportation. So we took the bus to Palma de Mallorca again. There we went directly to the station and bought tickets for the train to Sóller. This route through 13 tunnels was built back in 1912. It crosses the Serra de Alfabia. The "Red flash" (that is the name of the train) with its wooden wagons reminds of the old times.
There is a special "tourist train" that starts arround 10:30 AM. It does stop at a certain point of the route above Sóller to give travellers the opportunity of taking pictures. We took this very train. A return ticket did cost 11 Euro then.
Please note that there is one little drawback: this 27 kilometre train ride is indeed very popular. Do not expect to enjoy the ride and the viewpoint alone.
