Palma, Mallorca
April 5, 2004
We had decided to visit Palma de Mallorca first. Fortunately there was a bus connection between Peguera and Palma de Mallorca. And the best thing was that the bus stop was just 100 metres away from our hotel.
In Palma we visited "La Seu", the huge 400 years old Gothic Cathedral. It is 121 metres long and 55 metres wide. Impressive building.
Palma is a big city. Half of the total population of Mallorca live in the capital. We made a side step to the marina, strolled through the "Old town" and had a look at some shops and some famous old buildings. Downtown some street artits were performing (see picture). Great! Later in the afternoon we had a coffee at Plaza de España. I went to the station to check the timetable for the "El Tren de Sóller" - a train that is running from Palma to Sóller. We wanted to make this trip later.
We almost missed our lift back to Peguera. The bus we were waiting for simply did not show up. Fortunately there was one (and only one) other bus running the same direction. Otherwise we would have had to take a taxi (expensive!).
