Trip to NYC for Christmas and New Year. Visit to Niagara falls also (on a VERY windy day!)

Day 1 - Arriving in New York

Newark Airport - just arrived!

I wasn't really that excited for this trip during the run up, which is reall surprising for me because I am ridiculously over-excitable! It wasn't until we were almost ready to land that the excitement kicked in! I guess I was a bit worried as I had New York built up so much from the last time I was there, and I didn't want my Mam to be disappointed.

So stepping out of Newark airport to wait for the bus into the city, I was not excpecting it to be so cold! I mean, I knew it was going to be cold, with it being New York and Winter, but the cold was unbelievable!! Huddled up at the bus stop for 45 minutes really didn't help. Apparently the buses weren't as regular as the website said!

We decided we would just walk to our hotel, and we were doing quite well.

We were ont he right street anyway! Just we were on the East, and needed to be on the West side! Of course, me being easily confused, decided to just jump into a taxi. It turne out that we were actually only 1 block away, but because of the 1 way system it took alot longer to get there! Oops!

We didn't really do much when we got to our hotel. Just chilled out after travelling and had a power nap.

On the night time we walked to Times Square via Macy's, meeting some interesting people on the way. We met a guy dressed up as the Tinman from The Wizard of Oz. We also met a lovely Japenese guy that asked us to take a photograph of him as he was alone! I wish I had the guts to travel alone like that - but I just don't! Maybe one day I will! I was really disappointed at the Christmas window at Macy's! Well the side that I saw! I really didn't think it was all that great. Not very Christmassy anyway! We went to eat in Planet Hollywood which was nice. I saw an advert for a New Years party in Times Square, which we jumped on, but it turned out that you had to stay inside the restaurant, which isn't what we wanted to do. So we decided against it.

We walked around for a little while and then headed back to our hotel for the night for some sleep!
