A weekend in Manila chased by a week of snorkeling and exploring coral reefs and Japanese WWII wrecks in beautiful Palau and Yap Islands.

Palau - Day 1 (first kayak tour)

After a late night flight (what is up with Continental's middle of the night scheduling??), I began the day early with a sea kayak tour run by Sam's Tours.  The water was glass smooth and you could see the coral just a few feet under the kayaks.  Luck was not with me though because for most of the day, it was overcast and rainy.   Nevertheless, we hit some great snorkeling sites, saw the beautiful Rock Islands, and got to get close and personal with a large manta ray at the end of the day.  The guide spotted the ray as we moved through the main channel and he positioned the boat in the path that the ray was swimming.  We all jumped out just in time to see it swim right under us and out to sea.
