Graz
Graz is the capital of the province of Styria, 124 miles Southwest of Vienna and with a population of approximatelly 250 000 habitants.
From day 1 Graz was full of surprises for me, a new discovery awaited at every corner: hidden alleys, romantic inner courtyards, ornate facades and magnificent buildings. Renaissance, Gothic, Baroque and Nuvo architecture interwave to form the "best preserved city center of central Europe" dessignated in 1999 as a world cultural heritage site by UNESCO. In 2003 Graz was awarded the status of "Europe's cultural capital"/
I was asked before leaving the city what did I enjoyed the most about staying in Graz. I believe it was the combination of stunning natural beauty, the city is completelly surrounded by mountains; impressive architecture and complementing the picture: the people of Graz, all the local people I had the opportunity to interact with were very proud of the city and extremelly nice, warm and welcoming towards us the visitors. Hey! I even had the opportunity to dance Salsa with the Austrians in Graz, I definitivelly was not expecting that.
