Flowering fish on the Prisengracht
Another Saturday has come and it is just beautiful out, nice and sunny. There is a bit of a chill in the air though. A friend suggests we hit the pancake house, which I am all for. We head to a great place in the Jordan. After a belly filling brunch we head to a bike shop to check out locks for his new bike. After assessing them, it on to the Saturday market on the Lindengracht. We made a quick pit stop in one of the wonderful urinals the city has set-up for men. I’m not sure if they are being kind or trying to stop men from peeing in the canals in public, either way it is great.
We work our way through the stalls with all of the other people who are out.
It is actually a slow morning and not as crowded. I won’t complain about that. It makes it easier to get pictures. We take in all of the fantastic things to buy. You can literally get you entire meal (meat, fish, cheese, bread, vegetables, and deserts), flowers, toiletries, clothes, shoes, and house gadgets here. I have a few favorite places to hit. I have to have some nuts and dried strawberries, mushrooms, and honey today. I also get some tasty olives, stuffed peppers, and stuffed grape leaves. It was a good morning at the market.
Morning on a canal
My friend and I part company and I head home to finish out the day with Brian. With my market finds I can make him a caprice salad with vine ripe tomatoes, fresh basil (bought a plant), and the great olive oil we already have. This is a great way to start out the weekend.
