I had breakfast with the short short-haired lady who works in the Cheeky Cheetahs school with Mara this morning, shes so nice she always says hello and how are ya whenever I see her. I think her name’s Gurtrude, but im not gonna say it just in case its not because I don’t know why I think that... sorry either way lol. Anyway the point of this mini story is..(nothing really, but) we were talking about yesterday and I was telling her we had Mara in our group and that it was, overall, a pretty good day. Then randomly she said “You’re Jaws’ new friend aren’t you” and I felt kinda gooey inside and all proud of myself “yeah” I said smiling. She said it was nice and that she’d never seen anyone get so close to him before. It was nice knowing someone noticed though...

As usual the morning activities were decided in our groups and again, they were up at the Lapa today. Once everything was decided, we separated into our team thingys and went off to where we were sposed to be. Someone must have looked down on Harnas today and spiked the animals dreams with some weird crazy stuff, they were all acting a bit strange. AWESOME!! TOTALLY UP FOR AN ADVENTURE!! We got to the Lion enclosure and found them jumping around in their water hole and prowling around on top of Tara’s house. They were all up and causing mischief. Usually its a chore to get them into the car to take them out for walks. Today it was a chore for other reasons.
The 22 new people are arriving this afternoon and Frikkie wants us to stay up at the Lapa until dinner so we don’t go down before hand and meet them separately. Again its because they have to fit in with US. Seems hes a pretty firm believer in power in numbers. Im sleeping out with the boys again tonight with Alex and Valentine. It’s been different every other time so far so kind of excited to see what its like tonight, especially considering the mood they’ve been in today!! H-E-L-P!
Had hot dogs and French fries for lunch today.
Met at 3 as usual and there was guava juice and chocolate cake waiting for us!! They really are sucking up to us with all these new people arriving. Seriously! I’m not complaining though, not yet anyway lol. Was assigned baboon walk for afternoon activity with Mikkel and a few others. I like Melissa, shes really nice, she was with us this afternoon. She was full of questions because she’s been stuck on food prep since she got here and this is her first ‘non food-prep’ activity, besides watching the wild dogs out on the lifeline this morning, but really, how interesting could that have been, and what were they expected to do if they continued fighting?! Jump in there and break it up? Tell them its bed without dinner tonight? Count to three and tell them if its not over by then that they’re getting sent to their room, or better yet, GROUNDED?! Mm nah, can see it happening.
When we filled up the cage on the Mitsubishi we climbed on where we could, then when we hadn’t left after a few seconds were told we needed to give a hand pushin the car. Mikkel sat inside with his Danish smile plastered on his face laughing at us giving the ute a push in reverse. Cant say it didn’t work though lol.
Back up at the Lapa everyone prepared for Jacobi’s group to come tearing out of their enclosure, as ritual before they go out on their walks. Mikkel was telling us about how he raised Lost when he was here previously. Melissa had a lot of questions still. The walk wasn’t as bad as i’d expected it to be, i took my camera and phone and I returned without any new cuts or bruises or scratches or bites. YAY for me. We went back to the village, had showers and hung around until just after 7 to go for dinner. We finally got to the village kitchen where all the new people were congregated. They were all a lot older and would have brought the average age of the entire group up about 10 years!! It was weird in the sense that we do get older people, just not all at once in a group together.
Frikkie came down after dinner and pulled us out from the kitchen to do the whole introduction thing. All of group 3 was in there, otherwise it would have just been Alex by herself washing up 45 people’s worth of dirty dishes, and as mean as I am, I’m not THAT mean =P. It wasn’t too bad though, but anyway, we all came out. Frikkie gave a little talky thing as he does and did a good job by making the new people feel like outsiders already by bringing up the things we’d accomplished as the group that we are (that is if you classify fear factor and the Harnas survivor trek as accomplishments). He didn’t do it in a way to be mean, just to press in the fact that they are going to have to adopt themselves to fit in with us.
Anyway, never thought I’d catch myself saying this, but dishes were fun. Melissa and I washed up and everyone else...5 other people, dried. Alex had her ipod in and we were all singing Shania Twain’s “That don’t impress me much” and then the tea towel fights broke out, followed by screaming and yelling, like girls do. Anyone would have thought we’d lost it. Sucks to be the new group, especially the ones that were gonna be joining our group. I think they woulda been a little scared.
