Jiufen, nostalgic city
We've been to Jiufen, one hour and a hlaf drive from Taipei city. It was fun to walk around the city. It reminded me of Asakusa in Tokyo which remains good old days. There were many shops on both sides of a path, and they sold old toies or food.
Do you know famous Japanese film director, Miyazaki Hayao? He got an inspiration and modeled this place for his famous film, "Sen to Chihiro(Spirited Away in English title)" I could not feel it so much there, except a lot of hanged lanterns.
We had a tea break at a nice interior restaurant. The view from the restaurant was great! We could see lake and the misty weather made it prettier(other people wished it were not as we could not see the scenery clearly).
Jiufen is a nice place! I am glad that my friend attended with us! It was really fun to chat at the restaurant!! My friend Jingmei and her friend Linda were very nice and funny. My girls enjoyed time together even though they did not know English nor Chinese. As there've been a lot of Japanese cultures flown into Tiawan, we had common cultures which made our conversation easy. I even felt as if I were chatting with japanse friends!
I thought we could stay one night there. There saw some signs of cheap hotels including meals(I forgot dinner but definitely breakfast). Maybe next time.
