FLAT STANLEY VISITS HAWAII BEFORE GOING TO ENGLAND:
First, he gets a view of the beach at Waikiki. Waikiki is a nice resort area in the City of Honolulu. It is on the south side of the most popular island in Hawaii, Oahu.
Then Stanley has breakfast at a sidewalk cafe in Waikiki. Nice, but noisy! Here's a video of sitting at the restaurant along Kalakaua Avenue.

Then he goes to the beach at Waikiki. It's quiet here and the ocean is very scenic. He likes to bring along a book and read. A lot of people here like to do that! Others like to swim in the water or even go surfing.
He walks to the park at the east side of Waikiki and sees Diamond Head.

In the evening, Stanley sings Karaoke at GS-STUDIOS in Waikiki. Visitors from Japan love to sing here. Here he is, singing into the microphone. I guess he learns Japanese fast! Somebody said his voice sounds a little thin. Oh well, "Go for it, Stanley!" or as the Japanese say, "Gam-bat-teh, Stanley!"

ABOUT FLAT STANLEY

The idea for "Flat Stanley" comes from the book Flat Stanley written by Jeff Brown. To learn more, go the the wiki, Flat Stanley. Did you know that the word "Wiki" comes from the language of the people of Hawaii? It means "Quick" or "Fast"?
  • Our "Flat Stanley" was created by Jaden Wagoner of Mrs. Holbrook's class at Lowell Elementary School in Brainerd, Minnesota. Jaden sent Stanley to visit Mark Harstad, who lives in Hawaii. Mark went to the same elementary school as Jaden's grandfather, Jamie Omtvedt. They lived across the street from each other in Belview, Minnesota.
  • Stanley has been relaxing in Hawaii for some time. Some pictures of his visit can be seen if you click at the left on "Visits Hawaii."
  • In May Stanley will go on a long trip with Mark to visit England. If you look at a globe again, you'll see that England is on the opposite side of the earth from Hawaii.

ABOUT HAWAII

Hawaii is a group of islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. If you look at a globle of the earth you can see that it is very far from any other land. In fact, is is probably the most remote place on earth. People love to fly here to go on vacation and enjoy the warm weather and relaxing beaches.
