Tripoli was such a fascinating place; with beautifully preserved Roman ruins and virgin beaches.

the convert :)

I was quite apprehensive when I made travel plans to Libya. Had heard a lot about visa issues etc, but after my first day, I was a convert. The quaint souk, the endless beaches, beautifully preserved Roman ruins... I sound like a travel brochure, haha. And if you like seafood - the seafood market is just awesome. Tiny restaurants behind the stall selling you the freshly caught fish will cook the fish any way you like it, grilled, fried or in a sauce... And the best part is that none of this is touristy - at all. While its a shame that not many people have been able to enjoy Libya's natural beauty, its also why its all so well preserved.

The 'only' 5 star
Overall, a good hotel, but expensive. Though this is a 5 star, remember you're in Libya. So you have to take the missing booking request, mix up of room service orders etc in your stride. The friendly and smiling staff do make up for it. The manager for the breakfast buffet section remembered I liked green tea, and preferred to sit away from the food. The Moroccan restaurant, Fes was great. Really delicious food and very prompt service.
Fes, the lovely Moroccan restaurant
