Ladies day at the beach

Inishmore Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

I'm taking my wanderlust to a new level by shedding everything familiar and safe and hitting the road with a one way ticket and lots of guts. I start in Ireland, with planned stops in E. Europe before arriving in Egypt, then onto Tanzania for a Mt. Kili climb/safari before arriving in Zanzibar. From there, S. Africa, India, SE Asia, Australia/NZ, and eventually S. America. Afterward skidding home on fumes of glory, whereupon I will quickly be couch-surfing until I can land on my feet again.

Ladies day at the beach

Ahhh...sand.

I know, I know, I was supposed to get on the noon ferry to Galway today, but I think I'm not alone as every morning someone is at the desk paying for "one more night."

It pays to know the staff as I scored dinner last night and then Glen (the hostel manager) and I spent some time on the beach looking at the waves crashing and then biked to a nearby hotel for some not-so-Irish music.  My new friends from Denmark and Norway said they were going to stay another night and enjoy the beach the next day, so of course I had to stay.

This morning I finished The Last King of Scotland (thanks, Jen!) and went to a local cafe where there was a book exchange.  Then I came back to the hostel to team up with the ladies here.  The ladies meaning my Scandanavian friends and two hostel employees, Debbie and Caroline.  We went to the beach today.  We sat around, drinking cold brews and talking about what a bunch of gals would talk about.  That's about it.  Another dreamy day in a place where the perfect weather never seems to end...at least not this week as I gather.

We are going out tonight to the local pub - Joe Mattys - to bid a bon voyage to myself and the Scandanavians.  I MUST get moving.  I know it is hard, but seriously, I'm on my 3rd extra night here!

Well, hopefully I will email next from Galway or Sligo.
