Finally, to the Mound

Krak Mound
My final day here I finally made it to the Krak Mound, which is basically a pile of dirt dating back to the 7th Century, the origin of which is unknown.  Legend is it that it is the burial site of Krakow's founder.  What it really is though is a great spot to overlook Krakow.  The walk down there was through the Jewish district, into parts I haven't yet explored, and then up the mound for a rest and a gaze of the city.  It is not a site that many venture to given the few days most have here, but I've been talking about going there for the past two weeks, joking how it is likely the best site here!  Well, not so much, but it's worth the time if you have it.

From there I set off to Schindler's Factory.  I wasn't sure there was anything there as far as a museum, but when we found it, it was open to the public and there was a short film and his office had been recreated, I'm assuming done in response to the interest shown by tourists.

A full museum is apparently being planned on site.   Most of the building was still original, including the gate.

After that I grabbed a beer with my companion for the day, a fella from NY, and then hung at the hostel.  Speaking of which, I finally checked out this morning.  I'm kind of sad and anxious now.  It's been a while since I've hit a new city and had that feeling of not knowing where I am, how to get anywhere, and so on.  It's exhilirating to be sure, but I feel "out of practice" so to speak.   It will be an adventure finding the hostel I'm sure given that I'm arriving this evening.
