Tacoma Dome in front with Mount rainier in the background. Found online, not my photo.

Click on the underlined blue/purple links for the info. Please keep in mind that many of the museums are closed on Mondays, and some on Tuesdays as well, so check their days and hours of operation.

TACOMA is located about 1 hour south of Seattle with good traffic, you should factor about 1.5 hours if after 3pm as the traffic locks up about 5 miles before Tacoma when heading south in afternoon/evening traffic.

CHIHULY= Dale Chihuly is a famous Glass Sculptor who was born in Tacoma. Chihuly's page

Where to find his work - get the info for the podcast, cell phone tour, walking tour, and other things at the Tacoma Art Museum's web site. His items are at multiple locations all within walking distance of each other, including the Museum of Glass, Chihuly Bridge of glass, and The SWISS Restaurant & Pub(Travbuddy reviews of The SWISS)..... more photos from when my friend Erin(Poohstanggt) came to town.

OTHER THINGS TO SEE (more detail to come) (all of the museums and the dome are located in the same area)

The LeMay - America's Car Museum

The Tacoma Dome - venue for sporting events and music concerts

Washington State History Museum  .

from glass museum website, not my photo
... Tacoma Art Museum .... Point Defiance Park .... Point Defiance Zoo .... NORTHWESTTREK Wildlife Park (40-50 minute drive from Tacoma, make sure to arrive 15 minutes before the tram appointment you want) part of the Metro Parks Tacoma system (along with PD park) & Fort Nisqually .... MORE THINGS TO SEE ...... if planning to visit the Olympic Peninsula and or the Olympic national park/forest from tacoma, you would take the Narrows Bridge, which is free leaving Tacoma, but around $5-6 when coming back. (on the link you can see the old bridge collapsing from wind)
