Osaka - U-En hostel
April 6, 2009
I had intended on going to Kyoto today, but couldn't find a hostel. Thankfully Chris managed to book a hostel for me - U-En - see review.
Spent the day around Osaka Castle.

Very friendly and helpful
A small guesthouse, that's about a five minute walk from Tamatsukuri JR-loop station.
The staff speak good English and are exceptionally helpful (no surprise in Japan). There's loads of information about what to see and do in Osaka, and also in other nearby cities.
I had a bed on the top floor, in a mixed-dorm for 2300 Yen. The bedding could have been a little thicker, to stop my hips from being uncomfortable, but then maybe I should find a more comfortable sleeping position.
There's a small cafe in the entrance, where you can get snacks and drinks. They can also do a breakfast for 450Y, which is an omelette salad and toast with a coffee/tea.
Free Wi-Fi throughout the hostel. The shower and toilet arrangements were pretty basic, but adequate.
