So I HAD to go to SE Asia for school to 'evaluate' several companies in the region and the current economic situation.

Singapore

The hydrafoil back to Singapore was painful to say the least.  By that point I'd been traveling virtually nonstop for the better part of 35 hours. (except the 4hrs in LA  and 6hrs on Bintan)

Singapore, with its newly rejuvenated economy and shipping commerce, is possibly the cleanest, most modern place I've ever been.  Everything is new.  The country is highly developed, focusing mainly on high-tech industries, and the crime rate is virtually zero.  Word of advice though:  don't break any of the laws.  If you're caught the punishments can be stiff.  Drug trafficking=death.

71 & 72 Floor, SwissĂ´tel The Stamford. Great View of the city in a martini bar atmosphere. Not the cheapest place in town as drinks run $10-$12US, but well worth the view.

If you go there for happy hour (till 8pm on weekdays) the drinks are 2 for 1! Also, they sometimes have this crazy happy hour on saturday from 12-1 or 1-2am.

The Tiffin Curry Buffet, a must while in Singapore. If the Brits were to bring Indian cuisine to a colony a couple hundred years ago...well, you'd get the Tiffin Room. On another note, Raffles is the home of the famed Singapore Sling so if you're ever going to have one this is the place.
Located in the heart of the Colonial District, The Pan Pacific offered a host of services and the Conceige was very helpful. If I had anything bad to say about it, I'd say it was similiar to a host of hotels you'd find in any major North American city. All and all, a decent place to stay for a few nights. Many things within walking distance if you choose to brave the heat and humidity including Raffles, New Asia Bar, Downtown, Chinatown, etc.
