Welcome to Mt Vernon
It was raining off and on. We had a bus to take us to Mt Vernon, the home of George Washington. He had a very nice home, but he wasn't there very much. That was the price he paid for being George Washington. Sometimes famous and important people don't really have as good a life as one might think. From Mt Vernon, there is a great view of the Potomac River, and there is a greenhouse and big garden. Supposedly the fashion of the day for gardens were natural and informal, but George Washington had a more formal taste for his garden.

After Mt Vernon, we went to the nearby park to have a picnic lunch, catered in. The food was good and plenty, and there were a lot of blue shelled crabs for all. We ended with a walk in Georgetown, then back to the hotel to prepare for the evening program.

I didn't have to sing or dance or anything, just had to take a group photo! So that was an easy assignment. Other alumni had labored hard to prepare short skits, traditional Chinese dance, line dancing, singing old 70's songs, etc. Dinner was served, and then we enjoyed the entertainment and it was ended by more dancing!
