In my opinion Hong Kong has one of the best public transportation systems in the world. It's fast, clean, safe, cheap and takes you everywhere you'd possibly wanted to go!
After one hour the Cityflyer bus arrived at Electric Road/City Garden Road, Fortress Hill station in North Point, just in front of my hotel, the City Garden.
I like the North Point area very much, because you don't see many tourists there. Mainly locals, and nobody gets on your nerves because he wants to sell you a Rolex wristwatch...
Although arriving two hours before official check-in time, they didn't hesitate to give me a nice room within 5 minutes. The staff is very friendly, which I already noticed while booking the room through e-mail.
The newly remodeled rooms are very nice for a hotel in this price range. Two comfortable beds, in-room safe, mini-bar with fridge, flat screen tv, Internet/WiFi services (additional costs).
It's hard to resist the temptation to lay down and take a nap after 20 hours of travelling...
Well, somehow I managed to stay awake. I went out and explored the neighbourhood, had a coffee at the nearby Starbucks.
Later that day I went to dinner with an old friend who lives and works in Hong Kong.
We had some delicious food at a nice chinese restaurant in Central.
Day 1 ended with a trip to The Peak. Although it was quite foggy that evening, we were lucky to have a very nice view from up there. There were barely any tourists up there...I don't know why... maybe it was too late, like 10pm, or maybe it was too cold and windy...
After going down the hill by Peak Tram, I went back to the hotel by MTR.
Conclusion of Day 1: Wow, what an amazing city... I'm stunned!!
