the hotel - my room was on the 2nd floor
While my friend was doing some research about Mancora
, he found a place which looked nice. They had a good promotion for stayings longer than 3 days and we had 3 days left here, hehehe. I called him and found they had availability. Yay! There we go... This place was nice. The room was big, had a small kitchenete, tv, dvd, nice bathroom. Also they had a pool, jacuzzi and direct access to the beach. What else could I ask for? hahaha. Well, it didn't have the "Bali" style, but was nice too...
By the time we arrived it was past noon. We left our stuff and went to the beach to check it and also to grab a bite. We ended up going to a small restaurant. It was incredibly cheap! Just S/.
the small restaurant
5 (not even US$ 2) for an entire meal: appetizer, entrée and juice. I had tiradito and shrimp omelette. It was tasty! Oh well, and beer, hahaha. Actually the beer was more expensive than our meal, hahaha. Then we went to the town. We were looking for a grocery store. Now that we had a kitchenete my friend wanted to cook, hahaha. Ok, we bought some supplies at the store: water, beer and pisco. And went to the open market for some veggies and fish. We got fish, sausage, onions, tomatoes, limes, etc. The walk back to the hotel wasn't long and it was still early by the time we arrived, so I still had time to go to the pool and he'd try to find waves...
It was getting windy, so I went back to the room. I turned on the radio, really loud and took a shower. Of course I didn't hear when my friend arrived.
He was knocking the door for looooong time, ooooops! So sorry... Then I saw 2 girls walking to the room next door. Well, and you know me, I'm always meeting people, hahaha. And this time wasn't different. I approached to the girls, offered them a beer and we started to chat. It was good hanging out with some girls, cool!
A while later my friend joined us. The girls arrived to Mancora the last night, but stayed at a crappy hostel that 1st day. First thing they did next morning was looking for a better place and they found it! It was their first time in Peru and they were loving the experience so far. They tried the cebiche early and loved it! While the 3 of us were talking, my friend fixed some cebiche and it was marinating, so we'd share some later. I told the girls that we don't use to have cebiche for dinner - unless you "cook" it.
enjoying the pool
The cebiche was tasty, so fresh! There was something else the girls haven't tried yet: pisco!
We have been drinking beer and I decided not to drink pisco, but the girls did so... I guess, it wasn't the smartest idea... nevermind, we all were having a great time, but thought it was time to leave and see what was going on in town. It was around 11pm and we wanted to go to a karaoke, hahaha. The "disco" was empty! We had a drink there and moved to a bar across the street. They announced karaoke night. Well, the karaoke would start in 1 hr. Mmm, how could we kill the time? We went to other place and started to party. By the time karaoke was supposed to start, we were already having a great time and dancing somewhere else, hahaha.
Since we started early, we were ready to go back home early too.
It was about 2:30am, by the time we went back to the hotel. I was about going to bed when I saw my friend trying to cook! What's going on? hahaha. Apparently he was hungry and didn't have a better idea than to cook, plop! He started with the sausages. Well, they were over and I was thinking, ok that was it and suddenly he took the fish! Mmm, I don't think cooking if you are feeling a bit tipsy is the best idea, but for him it was, hahaha. I just enjoyed the food. It was very tasty, hahaha.
Finally, he decided that was enough and turned off the lights. I'm sure that if we would have had more food, he might have kept on cooking, hahaha. I went to bed knowing I wouldn't be waken up by a rooster this time, yay!
