Leaving Atlanta
So I packed my bags and my friend drove me off to the Atlanta airport. Delta gave me a little bit of a problem - we had to wait in line for 45 minutes, and then they couldn't find my reservation at first - but they were very nice and we worked it out. I'm so happy to be on Spring Break that I didn't care at all! I arrived at the gate and they asked for volunteers to wait for the next flight since mine was overbooked, so I volunteered. They were offering $400 dollars toward another flight! In the end they were able to board me (the last person!), and they upgraded me to first class. The captain himself escorted me on.
The flight was smooth and the view from my window seat was fabulous. I sat next to a businessman who read the entire time, so I finished reading a Scholastic book I am teaching, "The Lady of Ch'iao Kuo", and wrote in my journal. The Detroit airport was simple - I'm not used to flying domestically, so it was strange to not have to go through customs. I was intrigued by the nasal twangs of the midwesterns, and the number of Indians, Lebonese, and Pakistanis I saw.
